What it does

Citizenship Day Calculator is a privacy-first day-counting calculator for citizenship and naturalisation applications. Every country counts "days outside" differently, and a single miscalculation can cost you US$1,000–$2,500 in fees and a year of waiting. The app does the math exactly the way each government does it and links the official rule for every verdict.

Supported countries

8 countries are supported in v1, each citing the government rule we follow inline on the verdict card:

• United Kingdom — Form AN: max 450 days outside in 5 years (270 for spouse).
• United States — USCIS Policy Manual Vol. 12 Part D: 30 months physical presence plus the 180- / 365-day continuous-residence rules.
• Canada — 1,095 days physical presence with half-credit for pre-PR days, capped at 365.
• Australia — 4 years lawful + 1 year PR + 480 days physical.
• New Zealand — 1,350 days + 240 in each of the last 5 years.
• Germany — StAG (October 2025): 5 years residence + 6-month continuous-break rule.
• Ireland — 1 year continuous residence + 4 reckonable years out of 8.
• Netherlands — 5 years uninterrupted lawful residence.

Languages

16 languages: English, Turkish, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Arabic, French, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, Vietnamese, German, Polish, Romanian, Persian, Bengali, Italian. Date pickers, PDF reports and right-to-left layouts (Arabic, Urdu, Persian) are localised.

Free vs Pro

Free tier — included for everyone

• One country at a time, up to five trips.
• All calculations and official-source links.
• Local country reset.
• Works fully offline. No signup. No ads. No tracking.

Pro — optional

US$4.99/month or US$29.99/year. Pro adds:

• All 8 countries, unlimited trips.
• Multilingual PDF reports and JSON backup / restore.
• End-to-end-encrypted cloud sync of trip data (AES-256-GCM on-device, Argon2id KDF). See /app/privacy §3.2.
• Smart reminders at 12 / 6 / 3 / 1 months before eligibility.
• Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint app lock.

Refunds for Pro purchases are handled directly by Apple App Store or Google Play, per their refund policies. See /app/support.

Privacy commitments

• Free tier transmits nothing. The whole calculator runs on-device.
• Pro tier transmits only ciphertext for trip data. Our server stores opaque blobs we cannot decrypt.
• No advertising. No IDFA on iOS, no Advertising ID on Android, no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Crash reports and analytics are opt-in from a clear toggle in Settings → Privacy.

Open-source calculator logic

The country-by-country calculator logic is open source under the MIT license at github.com/serdalgoger/citizenship-day-calculator. If you spot a rule that you believe is encoded incorrectly, open an issue or a pull request.
