Quick start

  1. Pick the country whose citizenship rule you are tracking.
  2. Add each trip outside that country. The calculator counts physical-presence and absence days exactly the way the local government does — every result links the official source rule.
  3. The verdict card on the home screen tells you your earliest theoretical application date and any constraints (continuous-presence breaks, spouse exceptions, etc.).

Free tier vs Pro tier

The free tier covers one country at a time with up to five trips, all calculations, official source links, and local country reset. It works fully offline, requires no account, and never transmits your data.

Pro (US$4.99 / month or US$29.99 / year) unlocks all 8 countries, unlimited trips, multilingual PDF reports, JSON backup / restore, end-to-end-encrypted cloud sync, smart reminders, and Face ID / fingerprint app lock.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

  • iOS: Open the App Store, tap your profile picture in the top right, tap "Subscriptions", choose "Citizenship Day Calculator", then tap "Cancel Subscription". Or open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on the device.
  • Android: Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, tap "Payments & subscriptions" → "Subscriptions", choose Citizenship Day Calculator, then tap "Cancel subscription".

Cancellation stops auto-renewal at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store, not by us:

How do I delete my account and synced data?

Two equivalent options:

  • In-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. The app asks you to confirm with Face ID / fingerprint and triggers immediate purge of your encrypted trip data within 30 days.
  • By email: send a message to [email protected] from the email tied to your Pro account. We confirm and delete within 30 days.

Why are my trips not syncing across devices?

Cloud sync requires:

  • An active Pro subscription on each device that signs in with the same account.
  • That you tap Settings → Cloud Sync → Sync now after signing in on a new device — first sync is manual to avoid surprising bandwidth use.
  • That the encryption passphrase you set during account creation is entered on each device. We never see the passphrase, so we cannot recover it for you — if you lose it, the encrypted blobs on the server cannot be decrypted.

The calculator says my eligibility date is later than I expected. Is it wrong?

The verdict card on each country links to the exact government rule we follow (UK Form AN, USCIS Policy Manual Vol. 12 Part D, etc.). Click that link and walk through the rule step by step. The most common reasons the date is later than expected are: (1) a recent trip broke continuous residence, (2) the spouse exception you are eligible for is not yet configured, or (3) the country requires an additional minimum-presence window in the last year. If after reading the source you believe the calculator is wrong, email[email protected] with the country, your trip list, and the rule you think should apply — we audit calculator changes against the official text and ship corrections in the next release.

Does the app work offline?

Yes — the entire calculator runs locally. Cloud sync, PDF rendering for some languages, and updating to a new app version need network connectivity; everything else works in airplane mode.

Is my data private?

The free tier never transmits your data. The Pro tier syncs an end-to-end-encrypted blob that we cannot decrypt. Full details at /app/privacy.

How do I report a bug?

Email [email protected] with:

  • Your device model and OS version (Settings → About → Diagnostics in the app).
  • The app version (also shown on the About screen).
  • The country you were calculating.
  • A description of what happened and what you expected.

If you have opt-in crash reporting enabled, we may already have the stack trace and can fix without further information.

Status and incidents

For unplanned API outages affecting Pro cloud sync, follow the status page at status.citizenshipdaycalculator.com. Free-tier functionality is unaffected by API outages because it runs on-device.
