UK Citizenship FAQ
Is this an official UK government calculator?
No. This is an unofficial, free, open-source helper tool. Official applications are made via gov.uk.
Are the departure and return days counted as absences?
No. Per gov.uk Form AN: 'We only count whole days' absences from the UK. The dates when you leave and enter the UK are not counted as absences.' Example: depart 22 Sep, return 25 Sep = 2 days absent (23 and 24).
What happens if I exceed 450 days?
Not an automatic refusal — up to 480 days, the Home Office may use discretion; 481-730 needs strong reasons; 900+ is almost certain refusal.
What if the last 12 months exceed 90 days?
Up to 100 may be at discretion, 101+ is high refusal risk. For exceptional work/travel necessity, up to 180 days may be considered.
Does this site check other requirements (Life in the UK, English)?
Only as a self-checklist. Day calculation is the only mathematical check performed.
