4 years of lawful residence with valid visa, including 1 year as PR immediately before applying.
How many days can I be absent from Australia?
Max 365 days total absence in 4 years, and max 90 days absence in last 12 months.
Are departure & return days counted as absences?
No, only complete days outside Australia count as absent.
What if I had absences over 12 months total?
Discretion up to 400 days total. Beyond 400, application likely refused.
Do I need to be in Australia when I apply?
You can be temporarily abroad but must attend an interview.
